Embryo Donation

Some patients who undergo treatment with In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) have excess embryos that are frozen and we often are asked what can be done with them. Our Embryo Donation Program provides options for donating these embryos. Patients who have completed building their families and do not wish to pursue another pregnancy may choose to:

  1. Discard these embryos according to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine Ethical Guidelines;
  2. Donate the embryos to research;
  3. Donate the embryos to other infertile persons for conception attempts; or
  4. Transfer to long term storage facility.

As part of this program, we will help you explore these different options to determine which is best for you. We will also help you sort through the legal requirements, consent forms and paperwork.

Participants in this program must be Long Island IVF patients, married and under 42 years of age.
