Dear Colleague:

The New York State Department of Health has been charged with administering a pilot program to assist patients who need IVF and have private medical insurance that does not cover IVF. Last year, they solicited IVF programs for applications, and Long Island IVF was the only program awarded a grant on Long Island (and 1 of 10 in the state). The basic premise is that there is to be cost sharing between the patient and the state based on the couple’s annual income from the previous year. There is a sliding scale with a 50% state contribution for incomes of $100,000, with greater state participation for lower incomes and less for higher incomes up to $195,000, where eligibility ends entirely.

There are entry criteria including but not limited to female age, testing for ovarian reserve, and < 3 IVF attempts of any kind (including frozen embryo transfers or cancelled stimulations).

Information can be obtained by calling Ms. Gail Nee, R.N.C,M.S.,N.P., Infertility Demonstration Project Clinical Coordinator, at our office at 516-358-6363, or visiting our web site at www.longislandivf.com

This program will continue as long as there is funding available, but further funding for the future is as yet undetermined. The funding that we have is currently available, but could be exhausted before mid year.

Sincerely,
Daniel Kenigsberg, M.D.
