About UsExpert StaffOur approach to providing the best possible care starts with our team of experts. Everyone here at Long Island IVF has the highest possible qualifications and national certifications, from our physicians and lab director to our highly trained staff of nurses, laboratory technicians and administrators. We are run by experts in the field of reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) who are nationally recognized for their success, compassion and commitment to research. Drs. Kenigsberg, Brenner and Droesch are all board certified in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. And not only did our practice achieve the first successful in vitro fertilization on Long Island in 1988, but our doctors have received many national awards for their excellence, including Best Doctors in New York. Our physicians are also well published in their field, including the popular book called "The Baby Solution" by Dr. Kenigsberg. Dr. Daniel Kenigsberg, Co-Director of Long Island IVF is a board certified reproductive endocrinologist who completed his residency in gynecology and obstetrics at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and his fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Kenigsberg then became the Director of Reproductive Endocrinology at the State University of New York, Stony Brook. His studies in ovulation induction and ovarian physiology have won national awards. He left SUNY at Stony Brook in 1988 to co-found Long Island IVF. Dr. Kenigsberg has also published a book, "The Baby Solution", a step by step guide to overcoming infertility. We live in an age when we are approaching almost limitless possibilities in the treatment of medical disorders. Infertility is one such condition. There is an overwhelming drive to reproduce and form families. Over the past three decades, remarkable developments in medical, surgical and laboratory techniques have resulted in the birth of a subspecialty devoted to treatment of infertility. I have been fortunate indeed, to be able to practice that medicine during this exciting era. The entire team of embryologists, nurses and doctors feel a common bond with our patients first, during their treatment and, later on when they have left us as newly started families.
Dr. Steven Brenner, Co-Director of Long Island IVF is a highly published board certified Reproductive Endocrinologist who completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Beth Israel Medical Center, New York and his fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at the New York University. He is currently the Chief of Reproductive Endocrinology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, a position he has held from 1991 to 2008. Dr. Brenner has received national recognition for his continued dedication to the training of the resident physicians at LIJ. His association with Dr. Kenigsberg has enabled Long Island IVF to maintain its pre-eminent position on Long Island. My interest in reproductive endocrinology was stimulated during my residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Beth Israel Medical Center. At that time, tremendous progress was made in technology allowing for therapies in ways that were never possible before. Fortunately, these advances have continued and allow me to participate in a field that remains innovative. Reproductive endocrinology is a challenging, meaningful and rewarding subspecialty. I regard it as a true privilege to treat patients who suffer from problems with infertility. The rewards, when successful, extend not only to my patients but to their own families who will now be grandparents, aunts and uncles. The impact that I have as a physician not only on all of these individuals, but all of those people who are effected by a child in his or her own future, represents a reward that is indescribable.
Dr. Kathleen Droesch did her reproductive endocrinology fellowship at the Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine in Norfolk, Virginia from 1986-1988. After her post graduate training, she joined the medical school faculty at SUNY at Stony Brook as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Droesch is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology. She has published extensively on novel topics and treatments in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Her areas of special interest include ovum donation and oocyte cryopreservation for patients preparing for chemotherapy. In 1994, she joined the staff at Long Island IVF, the most successful IVF program on Long Island. As a resident in obstetrics and gynecology, I had the opportunity to work with a marvelous reproductive endocrinologist, Dr. Fred Benjamin. His intuitive teaching abilities opened my eyes to the fascinating field of reproductive medicine. The concept that our knowledge of biochemistry and cellular kinetics could be transferred into the miraculous clinical result of overcoming infertility, crystallized my career choice. The wonder has never lessened because infertility is such an intensely private matter, it makes each success a special and singular triumph.
Dr. Kuokkanen is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is board eligible in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI). Dr. Kuokkanen received her medical and PhD degrees from the University of Helsinki, Finland leading to post-doctoral training at the Human Genome Research Center at the National Institutes of Health. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in 2005. During her training, Dr. Kuokkanen received several teaching and academic achievement awards and presented her research on molecular genetics at numerous leading national and international conferences. After graduating residency, Dr. Kuokkanen completed a three year REI fellowship at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. During that time, she distinguished herself as a caring, compassionate and knowledgeable clinician as well as a dedicated academician. Dr. Kuokkanen is an Assistant Professor of Ob/Gyn and faculty member at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center where she continues her research work as a principal investigator in reproductive biology. Dr. Kuokkanen is the recipient of the prestigious American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologist Foundation research award and has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in internationally recognized journals and book chapters. In addition, Dr. Kuokkanen has been awarded several grants. Her special interests include IVF, ovulation induction, egg donation, preimplantation genetic diagnosis, and polycystic ovary syndrome.
Dr. Moodie was awarded his Ph.D. in animal physiology from the University of Minnesota for his studies on the cryopreservation of oocytes. Dr. Moodie is board certified as a high complexity laboratory director by the American Board of Bioanalysts. He is also authorized by New York State to direct Andrology and Reproductive Endocrine laboratories. Dr. Moodie joined LI-IVF in April 1999. Prior to joining LI-IVF, Dr. Moodie was the laboratory director of Reproductive Science Associates (RSA) in Mineola, NY. Concurrent with his full-time duties, Dr. Moodie was a consulting laboratory director for Reproductive Science Center of Boston (Andrology, Endocrine and IVF Laboratories) and The Center for Reproductive Medicine in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ (Andrology laboratory). Before joining RSA in June 1994, Dr. Moodie worked for IVF America (Integramed) at Port Chester, NY and West Orange NJ (St. Barnabas). |
